What we do!
We the Youth Action Team (YAT) are a committed, hard working group of young people, who give our time and talents to promoting youth volunteering in our city.
Our aims include inspiring new young volunteers in Bristol and to offer continued support to existing volunteers. We do this by showing young people that volunteering can be fun and beneficial to many people not least to the volunteers themselves.
We meet at least every couple of weeks to talk and plan our activities. If you are between the ages of 16 and 25, we would love for you to join us!!
Here are some quotes from current members of Bristol's Youth Action Team:
"My journey in life got a lot more interesting since I joined the YAT. Everyone's amazing!!" - Sunetta
"The YAT has given me a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and get involved in some brilliant projects. It's great experience to have for future projects with young people and it's great to make new friends!" - Jude
"The YAT has given me a great platform to express my skills and develop them further. A team consisting of a former homeless young person to law students. It's an exciting opportunity all should experience!" - Steve
"The diversity of YAT is great! We come from all walks of life, some of us work full time, study or devote most our time to volunteering. Together we really can represent our diverse community, bringing a fresh approach to youth volunteering." - Kat
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 7 months with the YAT! It's great to work with other young people who share a passion for youth volunteering." - Jon
Art of Volunteering- Art exhibition
In April, YAT hosted an art exhibition at the Paintworks factory on Bath road. All art pieces were created by volunteers and related in some way to volunteering.
"A lot of work went into the event and the efforts really paid off on what was a great day. The large gallery space was filled with numerous different pieces of art created by lots of different groups from all over Bristol. Food and drink was available in abundance and the young people who came along were well catered for as they admired the art and helped to create their very own pieces at a number of creative tables. Visitors also added their names to interactive petitions and had the opportunity to find out more about the work of Young Bristol and the Youth Action Team. A couple of roving reporters from Birmingham and a photographer from Bristol captured the images and impressions, whilst live music in the evening finished off a successful and enjoyable day." - (Jon-YAT member)
