We are pleased to share that the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta has chosen Young Bristol as its official charity partner, marking the start of a three-year partnership from 2026 to 2028.
United by a shared commitment to opportunity, belonging and community connection, the three-year collaboration will build towards a pair of milestone anniversaries. In 2028, the Fiesta will celebrate its 50th year, while Young Bristol reaches 100 years of supporting young people across the city.
Across the partnership, Young Bristol will work alongside the Fiesta to open doors for young people to explore opportunities. From engineering and logistics to creative production and live events, the collaboration will shine a light on the pathways that sit behind one of Bristol’s most distinctive global industries.
Together, we aim to broaden horizons, raise aspirations and create a lasting impact that extends far beyond the moment the balloons take flight.

Soaring opportunities for Bristol's young people
Young Bristol operates at the heart of Bristol's communities, supporting young people where they live, learn and socialise. Already through the lead-up to the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, young people have been given incredible opportunities through our partnership.
On Friday 10th July, five young people from our Outdoor Employment Programme had their very first hot air ballooning lesson through the Fiesta. The group prepared, inflated the hot air balloon, took off, landed, and packed it away afterwards. Four young people from our Young Leaders programme, also had an opportunity to explore the industry at College Green - gaining hands on experience with the ground crews. It was an unforgettable introduction to ballooning for all young people!
Thank you to the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta's Headline Partner, Albert Goodman and teams at First Flight and Sky High Ballooning for this once in a lifetime experience.
As part of the partnership, a hot air balloon also visited the charity's BS14 Youth Club in Stockwood, offering young people from across our Community Youth Club network a rare, behind‑the‑scenes introduction to the world of ballooning. Young people and their families helped tether the balloon, pack it away, and spoke directly with pilots and crew about ballooning, as both a sport and a potential career pathway.
Young people from across Young Bristol's programmes will continue to be involved throughout the weekend at all of the Fiesta's mass ascents. Two young people from our Outdoor Employment Programme will be assisting Jo Bailiey, adventurer and keen balloonist, with her "Paloma’s Big Lift Off," a World Record attempt to complete the highest number of tethered hopper balloon ascents within one hour. We hope you'll join us at what will be an incredible event for Bristol's young people!
