Young Bristol were thrilled to attend the Age-Friendly Awards, where Shea Stew and Youth Club on Wheels were nominated for the 'Youth Worker' Award
The Age-Friendly Awards, hosted in collaboration with InCommon and Clarion Futures, celebrates intergenerational social action in communities and shines a light on the groups and individuals that are making this happen. Young Bristol joined organisations from across a number of sectors at the Awards evening on Wednesday 30th April, at ApplebyBlue Almshouse in London, to champion the vital work that our services provide to children, young people and their families across communities.
Shea Stew was nominated for the "Youth Worker" Award for his work in Brislington and Speedwell. Until recently, these were two areas within Bristol that didn't have access to youth provision and had no support in place. The Young Bristol team were proud to see Shea recognised as a nominee alongside 45 other youth workers from across the UK.

Our Youth Club on Wheels has made a significant difference to the lives of over 796 young people across Bristol, North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset in the short space of five years. The impact of this work and time dedicated by our staff team to these young is profound and life-changing.
Street-based youth work is at the core of what this service does – the mobile youth service works with young people aged 8 – 19 in hard-to-reach areas of Bristol and surrounding rural areas, where there is currently no youth provision. The pioneering service provides creative, multi-media, sports and social action projects and activities, job and homework support, a place to make new friends, and a safe place to talk with trained youth workers.
The Youth Club on Wheels acts as a bridge between school and homelife for young people. The beauty of this provision is its versatility and how it can become what young people and their community needs. From a safe space to meet up and spend time with their friends, to taking part in educational and inspiring activities, or gaining much-needed support from our Youth Workers – the service aims to be a beacon for young people.
During April 2024 - April 2025, the Youth Club on Wheels saw:
· 333 sessions delivered which saw 2,470 attendances with young people ages 8 – 19.
· 406 young people were supported and engaged with the provision during April 2024- April 2025.
· 12 communities were supported, with a number of new communities receiving a youth provision during this period.
Thank you to our funders, supporters and delivery partners who have supported this initiative since its launch in 2019; your help allows us to continue providing our vital work to young people across the city! You can find out more about our programmes and opportunties for young people here.
