This week, The Grove @ Bedminster Down hosted their second annual Christmas Fair at Bedminster Down Ex Service Club! Over 150 local residents came through the doors, enjoying all of the stalls and activities we had on offer.

Our stalls ranged from Tarot Card readings, wax melts and food stalls. Everyone was also able to enjoy our range of activities such as; guess the sweets and bottle tombola! We were lucky enough to even be visited by Santa and his elves, who hosted a Grotto to help raise money for The Grove!

To finish off the Christmas Fair, the raffle ticket winners were announced, winning some of the amazing prizes, some of which had been kindly donated by some local businesses! Some of these included: Next, Asda and local food restaurants. Thank you to everyone who donated a raffle prize!

During the Christmas Fair, we even saw an amazing performance from Xtro Illusions Dance Company. Some of the young people that attend this dance club are regular attendants at The Grove. The group wanted to perform in front of the parents and the wider community! It was great to see them put a Christmas routine together and perform this on stage!

We hope that everyone enjoyed this years Christmas fair. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us to raise over £800, which will all be donated back to The Grove! Thank you to all Young Bristol staff that got involved, you made this event one to remember.

Why support Young Bristol:

Our youth workers are there for young people when they need them – listening, mentoring, and offering opportunities that help build confidence and brighter futures.

Many young people face challenges no child should have to navigate: poverty, isolation, family difficulties, and the daily effects of the cost-of-living crisis. And demand for Young Bristol’s services continues to grow.

Without a warm, safe building and a trusted youth worker inside it, there is no club, no conversation, no positive change.

You already know the difference Young Bristol makes; and it is your belief in our work that has carried us through many years and allowed us to provide a lifeline to those who need it most. By supporting Young Bristol, you will help ensure that our doors remain open, our youth workers remain present, and young people continue to have somewhere they belong.

What a great way for our Outdoor Employment Programme and young people from our Community Youth Clubs to start their weekend! Bristol Old Vic Theatre School perform 'Wonderland' for Young Bristol!

During the October half term, we were pleased to see Bristol Old Vic Theatre School perform an exclusive 'Wonderland' performance for Young Bristol members at Merchants Academy.

We were thrilled to see a number of families, young people and affiliates come through the doors of Merchants Academy, to enjoy Bristol Old Vic Theatre Schools performance of 'Wonderland', created and performed by their second-year BA Acting students, who debuted their school tour for Young Bristol members!

The story saw Alice tumble down a rabbit hole during a computer lesson, where she discovers a magical Wonderland filled with curious characters who seem strangely familiar. Through encounters with a White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, and the fearsome Queen of Hearts, she embarks on a musical adventure that teaches her how to navigate her emotions and embrace her true self.

"It was great to see the students stay in character so well throughout the whole performance. They engaged with the kids so well and used humour for all throughout. What an amazing performance, thank you!"

We would like to thank Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for hosting this amazing performance for young people!
