Young Bristol are excited to host some amazing events in 2024! This year, there will be something for everyone! From fundraising events to talks with inspiration speakers, there will be an occasion for anyone in and around Bristol to enjoy!

Golf Day & Dinner 2024

When: Thursday 4th July

Where: Bristol & Clifton Golf Club, Beggar Bush Lane, Bristol, BS8 3TH

Entry: £300 per team of 4, sponsorship opportunities available

After the success of Young Bristol’s Golf Day & Dinner in September 2023, we are delighted to announce we will be hosting our Golf Day & Dinner 2024, and we plan to make this years bigger and better than before! If you are a business in the South West with some keen golfers and an ethos for supporting local charities, then this is the day for you!

Bacon rolls and hot drinks will be available to all guests upon arrival. Teams will also be offered a one course meal post golf.

Run for Charity!

Now more than ever before, young people and families across Bristol need the support of charity’s such as Young Bristol.

This year you can make a difference by taking on a challenge whilst supporting a local cause. Whether you want to take part in a fun run, build up your physical fitness with a half marathon, or push yourself to the limits with an Ultra challenge – grab your trainers and get fundraising!

All runners that choose to fundraise and run for Young Bristol for us will receive a FREE runners vest.

Activity centre celebrates 25 years with epic fundraising challenge

Young Bristol's Pooles Wharf Outdoor Activity Centre is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week, marking a quarter-century of providing life-changing outdoor experiences to thousands of young people across Bristol's iconic harbour.

Since opening on July 4, 2000, the award-winning centre has grown to become one of Bristol's premier providers of adventure activities, offering 16 water and land-based activities that support young people's physical and mental wellbeing through free and low-cost outdoor experiences.

Fundraising at Chase the Sun North!

On Saturday 21st June, we were pleased to see Nick and Tom sign up to 'Chase The Sun North' to raise money for Young Bristol!

Chase the Sun North is a cycling challenge that saw participants cycle 200 miles from East to West, starting at sunrise in Whitley Bay, and finishing at sunset in Ayr, Scotland! The coast to coast cycle is full of stunning vistas, wilderness, heaths, rivers, lochs, castles and beaches.

It has been amazing to see Nick and Tom prepare for their second 'Chase the Sun' cycle whilst fundraising to support young people across Bristol. Thank you Nick and Tom for taking part in the 'Chase The Sun North' in aid of Young Bristol this month! Support their fundraising page here.

Fundraising at the Morzine-Avoriaz Ultra Trail!

On Saturday 21st June, we were pleased to see Amber Chubb sign up to the Morzine-Avoriaz Ultra Trail to raise money for Young Bristol!

The Morzine - Alvoriaz Ultra Trail is located in the French Alps and is home to an extensive network of incredible slopes. The race saw participants run 100km and climb 5,726 meters in elevation whilst discovering beautiful landscapes and breathtaking views over the Portes du Soleil.

"I chose Young Bristol because many young people face challenges like poverty and limited access to resources - factors often beyond their control. Having been fortunate to have strong support and opportunities, I want to give back and help young people build confidence and resilience, knowing how much youth shapes our future."
"It was an amazing challenge, lots of highs and lots of lows, and all for a great cause!"

Fundraising at the Cheddar Gorge 10k 2025!

On Sunday 8th June, we were pleased to see Fabien from Burges Salmon sign up to the Cheddar Gorge 10k to raise money for Young Bristol!

The Cheddar Gorge run is known for its scenic views and stretches over a great variety of terrain, with the route going through a mixture of open meadows, rocky outcrops and cliff edges.

It was amazing to see Fabien from Burges Salmon preparing for his challenge and fundraising for young people across Bristol!

“It was a great experience seeing runners of all levels and ages take on this tough challenge. The terrain and Hell Steps on the course were unforgiving, but it was worth it when taking in the breath-taking views on top of the Gorge!

Spoken Word Competition

For this months competition, young people will create a video or audio spoken word entry no longer than 2 minutes long, that will follow the theme of ‘young people’.

Essex Adventure Weekend

The Essex Adventure Weekend is a residential camping weekend away, filled with a range of exciting activities, that will offer something for all to enjoy!

Where: Thriftwood Scout Centre

For: Ages 13+

Young people take part in Young Bristol's Canoe Test 2025!

This year, Young Bristol were pleased to organise the NABGC Canoe Test, celebrating the 60th year of paddling with young people down the River Wye!

Across the bank holiday weekend, 32 young people from Young Bristol as well as young people associated with the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs took part in The Canoe Test 2025. The challenge took place over four days, with participants paddling up to 100 miles down the River Wye.

Young people taking part in The Canoe Test showed incredible dedication across the weekend, with the majority completing the full 100 miles! The event saw the group learn life-changing skills, grow their confidence and make friends for life!

The four days of canoeing down the River Wye were all under the expert guidance of Young Bristol's Commercial Activities team, ably supported by a number of volunteers, all giving up their bank holiday weekend to ensure all young people participating in this years Canoe Test had an incredible experience!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this years Canoe Test a truly unforgettable event, celebrating its 60th anniversary. It was amazing to see a weekend full of learning, laughter and friendship-building!

Fundraising at the AJ Bell Great Bristol runs 2025!

On Sunday 11th May, we were pleased to see 17 runners from a number of our valued corporates sign up to the Bristol 10k and Half Marathon to raise money for Young Bristol!

The Great Bristol runs, set off from the heart of Bristol's City Centre, and lapped around some of the cities most iconic landmarks, with the race being known for its scenic views.

It was amazing to see teams from our valued corporate partners, including Burges Salmon, Leggwork, Mondaq, Robert Half, Sanderson, and Unite Students preparing and fundraising for their challenges!

“It was a great day for all of us all and for Bristol, some amazing grit and determination shown by everyone. It was an honour to run for Young Bristol."

Thank you to the 17 runners who took part in both Bristol 10k and Half Marathons to raise money for Young Bristol - we appreciate your ongoing support!

The Canoe Test

Young Bristol are hosting the NABGC Canoe Test, open to young people of all ability levels. The Canoe Test will be full of canoeing challenges and activities.

Interclub Dodgeball

Our Interclub Dodgeball Tournament will see young people from our Community Youth Clubs go head-to-head to win this years Dodgeball trophy!

When: Thursday 29th May

Where: Avon Youth Club

For: Ages 8-16

Outdoor Activities

Our Outdoor Activity Programme will be running half day and full day Holiday Clubs across April's Half Term. Take part in our offer of up to 16 water and land based activities! Places are limited and will need booking in advance. Click here to secure your place!

When: Monday 26th May - Friday 30th May

Where: Pooles Wharf Outdoor Activity Centre

For: Ages 8-16

Holiday Clubs

During the Easter Half term, we have a number of Holiday activities and opportunities on offer for young people to enjoy, with a focus on those who receive free school meals. Each session, all young people will receive a free hot meal!

When: Monday 7th April - Thursday 17th April

Where: Various Community Youth Clubs

For: Ages 8-16

Outdoor Activities

Kayak Club

Our Kayak Club is a weekly drop-in session that provides the opportunity to improve physical fitness and confidence, learn new paddle skills across Bristol’s harbourside and have fun! The sessions are for young people of all abilities!

When: Every Monday, 4:30pm-6:30pm
